Foundation: Find a Book

Checking a Book Out of the Library

When you have collected the materials you need, proceed to the front desk with your CCS ID. Books will be checked out to you for four weeks, with the option of one renewal for another four weeks. Other types of materials have differing loan periods.

How to Find a Book

The Library Catalog
The easiest way to search for a book is to go straight to the online Library catalog. However, results depend on spelling your search words correctly. Don't hesitate to contact the Library staff for assistance. For more information on how to search the catalog, click HERE.

The Library also purchases individual eBooks for specific classes and by request. These eBooks can be found HERE in the Library's catalog, and directions for accessing them can be found HERE. The following eBook databases may be applicable, as well:

EBSCO Academic eBooks
Art & Architecture ePortal

Browsing
Browsing the physical stacks is a great way to discover the unexpected. The posters at the end of the shelves will give you an idea of where different topics are located.

In addition, some material is classified as oversize, course reserve, closed reserve, or open reserve. Extra large books must be accommodated by higher shelves, and are therefore in a separate location. Books classified as "on reserve" cannot be checked out; their use is limited to the Library.
