Setting Up Course Reserve Materials

To place an item on reserve:

  • Fill out a Course Reserves Request Form for required materials only. Select the CCS Library where you would like material available.
    • Please note that for the Fall 2020 semester, only electronic resources can be made available to students for course reserves, and physical course reserve materials will not circulate for the foreseeable future. If selected materials are not available in digital format, a Librarian will be happy to work with you to find supplementary materials.
  • Allow 14 days for the items to be placed on reserve at the beginning of the semester. This includes single items.
  • Instructors should wait to notify students about reserved materials until after materials have been processed and placed on reserve.
  • Instructors will be contacted if an item is not already owned or readily available. Items CCS does not own will be ordered with notification of reserve status occurring immediately after receipt.
  • Items from one campus Library may be placed on reserve at the other Library, depending on need and usage patterns in the "home" Library.

Library Instruction

Library staff are available to come to your class in-person or virtually to provide instruction on how to use the Library. Instruction sessions are tailored to individual class needs and can integrate information literacy, visual literacy and critical thinking skills into the classroom assignment.

Examples of Library instruction sessions:

  • General Library orientation
  • Searching for Library resources
  • Trend research
  • Material collection
  • Visual literacy sessions
  • Citation

Schedule a time for Library instruction via this form.

Embedded Librarianship - Invite a Librarian to visit your classroom more than once during the semester to help students build on research skills.

No time for a library session or have other questions?

Librarians are also able to:

  • Advise on assignment development
  • Create custom instructional materials

To inquire, please email Library Director Becca Pad: rpad@collegeforcreativestudies.edu

Teaching with Open Access

OER, or Open Educational Resources, are freely available objects designed to be used by faculty as a way of increasing accessibility of course materials and can be adapted to specific classes. For more information, see the OER section of the Open Access guide.
